Swimming

At ARAKNA Body Jewelry, we understand that getting a new piercing is an exciting experience. Whether it's a trendy ear piercing or a bold body piercing, we want to ensure that you have all the information you need to take care of your new adornment. One important rule to remember is to avoid swimming with your new piercing.

Swimming, whether it's in a pool, ocean, or hot tub, can pose a risk to your healing piercings. The water in these environments contains various bacteria, chemicals, and other contaminants that can irritate or infect your piercing site.

When you swim, the water can create a moist environment around your piercing, which can prolong the healing process and increase the risk of infection.

While it may be tempting to swim at the beach or pool during the healing process, it's crucial to prioritize the health and well-being of your piercing. Here are some tips to protect your piercings:

  • Avoid swimming: Refrain from swimming in pools, oceans, hot tubs, or any other bodies of water until your piercing is fully healed.

  • Keep it dry: After cleaning your piercing, make sure to thoroughly dry it with a clean, disposable paper towel or a gentle stream of air. Moisture can create a breeding ground for bacteria.

  • Follow aftercare instructions: Clean your piercing regularly with a saline solution recommended by your piercer. Avoid touching or twisting the jewelry, and keep it away from makeup, lotions, and other products.

It is okay to take a bath with a new piercing as long as you do not add any soap or bath salts as this may irritate or provoque an infection. When you are are ready to wash your body and your hair. stand up and finish washing yourself under the shower. Make sur to clean your new piercing with sterile saline after washing your hair!

Remember, each person's healing process is unique, and it's essential to consult with your piercer for specific aftercare instructions.
